But, neither "Russia has become the second largest exporter of dairy to China" nor "China has become the second largest importer of Russian dairy products" is true. As dairy exporter Russia is not even registered on radar in China and there is nothing to suggest (except declaration and wishes of russian officials) that will change any time soon. As for the largest buyers of Russian dairy products China is well behind Kazakhstan, Belarus and Uzbekistan with about 4.5% of total russian dairy export in 2024. Yes it's 2023 but percentage wise not much changed since then and btw Russia is still net importer of dairy products same as China

PS: Old acquaintance of mine used to be in middle management at Danone in one of CIS countries. Told many interesting things. They were oriented purely on internal market but once western companies quit chinese came in and yes, they are trying to redirect some volumes to china but they unlikely to make any significant progress as Russia has no resources to do so and in no position to compete with top producers.
