One of the main reasons we have a predominance of Eucalypts is apart from our dry climate, after as well as the Antarctic Australia is the driest continent on Earth, we had the Aboriginal population over thousands of years using fire as a means of disturbing kangaroos in order for them to escape from the bush so they could spear them. Unfortunately, this continued burning over time and the fact that the burning often got out of control lead to some quite severe bush fires. As a result over time the vegetation changed - it adapted, it had to and the new vegetation predominantly Eucalypts and others species evolved to become the dominant species! So in reality the Aboriginal practice of hunting kangaroos changed the vegetation for ever - they changed the environment and so to the vegetation!!!
