I’m no expert, but I can’t see the economics of a stand alone (unconnected to the grid) solar/battery arrangement. The amount of battery redundancy required to guarantee three four or five days of continuous supply to an aluminium smelter would be utterly phenomenal.
Surely, they can tap into the grid when the weather isn’t cooperating. It simply makes economic sense.
