This by hot_pick off yahoo. Who is Toby Shutes ? Got a BA in Anthropology from Brooklyn. His approach and track record in making calls on E&P oil and gas is lacking. Guess MF doesn't want to pay for a real oil analyst with credentials and experience. So he thinks that SSN is overvalued.

About Toby Shutes E&P Valuation Approach in his own words--
"There's no failsafe approach to valuing E&Ps, and different situations demand different frameworks. Whenever I make an investment in this space, however, I demand an extra-large margin of safety, given how volatile this business can be. (For me, that generally means a 50% or greater expected return -- based on a range of possible outcomes that I've handicapped -- within two years). If I miss the macro-driven moves in seemingly fairly valued stocks such as Gulfport, I can live with that."

As a cheerleader for ATP Oil and Gas, Toby was pumping this stock last year. Finally last Dec., he admitted he missed the call.
"I gave ATP the thumbs-up a year ago around $19 a share. Today, it trades hands for $16 and change. That's roughly a 15% drop, compared with a market that's up around 12%. So that stings a bit. Let's review my thesis and see where I screwed up."
