I’m not totally in opposition to a portion of this type of buyback…but adhering to it as the only format amounts amounts to blatantly catering for the top of town to give them ample time to minimise their tax obligations.
ROC & EPS are purely based on theoretical future benefits that may not necessarily eventuate!
Most retail investors would rather get a tangible distribution now, and do their own risk analysis. If they’re confident in the company future they could buy more shares with their return of capital distribution.
