I think you have drawn an accurate picture of the level of 'technical advancement' and 'superior UCG expertise and experience' Cougar holds over other UCG companies in Australia.

This undoubtedly obvious technical superiority has brought about the undoing of the Kingaroy pilot burn, via political and media sabotage....

The fact that DERM is NOT willing to give any rhyme or reason as to why the burn can not continue, apart from 'undesirable future risk management', in my opinion, shows that they have an undeniably weak case.

For a company to be penalised for a reading of 2 ppb benzene in saline unpotable water 200 metres underground is extreme. If benzene at these levels is so dangerous, perhaps we all should not start our cars any time soon...

I have no doubt as to the theory you have put forward bringing around Cougar's Kingaroy demise. And to answer your question if I was the Qld Government what would I do? I would hope that Cougar goes away quietly and doesn't ever change it's name to 'YASI'.
