I know it's not a "Triple Witching Hour" trading day today but the VAU recent trading patterns are nonetheless interesting.
Apart from quite a few trades going through in the 4.10pm match-up today, there's been another nearly 4m traded after-market (which equates to more than 10% of the total turnover in the stock today). I couldn't see any post 4.10pm action to anywhere near this extent in any other gold mining stocks today.
I'm not wanting to be yet another conspiracy theorist on this thread, but this sort of action in VAU shares, which I detect is happening a little bit more often these days, reminds me a bit of what SLR was doing as it stalked RED, bought a blocking stake in the company and then proceeded to engineer a full takeover.
It could be just institutions playing games with their computer trading programs and trying to bluff each other (and us retail investors) or maybe there actually could be a corporate play starting to happen right under our noses.
