they didnt show photos of the open mining pits. it's possible they are just giant swimming pools at the moment. Water entering mining operations are very troublesome.
The rains were biblical, check the videos online, and in such dry areas the water can't seep into the ground and has nowhere to go but to run off and open pits are just perfect catchment areas.
In this risky sector it pays to be conservative so I would say it will take them 6 months to dewater and fix the access roads.
Think when cigar lake got flooded. At least this isn't underground, then it'd be game over for PDN and back to 10c
