if you do a little bit of research you would notice that a number of current satellite builds (Globalstar; Iridium NEXT; Inmarsat to name a few) are being financed 80% to 90% by debt finance supplied under guarantees by the export development agencies of France and the US.

This allows satellite customers that wouldn't otherwise qualify for normal bank lending (err..., like NWT??) to place satellite build orders. More than US$3 billion of deals like this have already been announced...

    [see http://www.satellitetoday.com/via/dollarsandsense/Export-Credit-Agency-Financing-and-the-MSS-Resurgence_35613.html]

applying those numbers to Jabiru-1, NWT would need at least US$50m (maybe US$70m?).

In announcing Jabiru-2 the company said that they did not need either debt or equity to participate.

At the last AGM, AB had a slide that equity for Jabiru-1 would be raised at 1.5c(?) from totally new institutional/strategic investors.

[we laughed at the time as the share price was 0.4c... but he may be right!!]

    interesting times...
