"why pay a financial adviser"?
It depends on the individual. Its not a case of"one size fits all".
Some people have the nous to do it themselves. Others dont. And there are those who need saving from themselves.
My advice would be not to use a financial adviser. ( I have yet to know a knowledgeable one.) Instead, if one lacks the ability to DIY, then put your cash into long term bank term deposits.
