I’ve been through this numerous times with him. Yes, he admits the RCC is not in a good state, but he believes that somehow—by some miracle—it’s going to suddenly have a reboot and start adhering to Scripture. That’s never going to happen. As you yourself know, even prophecy exposes such a church.
Anyone who chooses a denomination or institution that dictates teachings which contradict Scripture—and continues to adhere to it—will be tested by God Himself. If they go against Yeshua and His teachings, their salvation will be lost. However, until the day they die or Yeshua returns, they still have the chance to repent.
The problem is, people who follow the RCC claim to be Christians and claim they follow Yeshua. But when challenged with Scripture that clearly shows where their religion fails, they cowardly avoid even the most basic and obvious verses—some so clear a 12-year-old could understand them.
The reality is, those who have been indoctrinated—whether RCC or Protestant or whatever religion—often become so prideful over time that they no longer question anything. This is common to all of humanity, especially within religious circles.
PPM goes on about his 40 years of devotion to the RCC, yet he cannot see some of the clearest blasphemous contradictions against Scripture that they promote and adhere to. But it doesn’t matter how long someone has been devoted to a faith. A Muslim could claim 70 years of devotion—does that make him a man of YHWH? No way—not according to Scripture. He’s a man devoted to a false prophet, Muhammad. My point is this: the older and more stubborn someone becomes, the more the walls go up. They stop questioning what’s clearly written against the very traditions they serve under.
For me, even though men like PPM will continue to defend such a blasphemous organization, I know this for a fact: every RC I’ve ever spoken to will constantly avoid, deflect, and even get personal or angry when asked how they justify their so-called chosen church—one that literally rewrote God’s own commandments. Scripture condemns this. And how dare any sinful man think he has the right to change the only words Yeshua ever personally wrote—written in stone—for the world to be judged by. Any so-called man of God who justifies this is, in truth, deeply ignorant. No matter how much Scripture you show them, the altering of the Ten Commandments alone should sound the loudest alarm bells.
Regardless of whether you show mercy, compassion, and love—or whether you're blunt, direct, and to the point—when someone refuses to interact with Scripture and instead runs back to their organization for all the answers, you're wasting your time. As frustrating as it is…
My only hope is that somewhere, deep down, they’ve remembered even a little of what was said. And when the true test of faith comes, they’ll hopefully lean on Yeshua’s teachings over the traditions of any organization.
This narrow path isn’t easy, brother—for anyone. But journey well.
Shalom.
