The TBI trials failed for several reasons. Firstly the doseages used in the triak turned out to be way too low..,Secondly recruitment was difficult because there were 3 separate trials running concurrently which add ti the complexity. Part of which was the fact that the drug needed ti be administered within a short timeframe from when the injury happened. I think it was 6 hours maximum. It was 20’yeare ago so it’s a little hazy. There was also difficulties related to hospitals who were participating not getting patients, something to do with rescue choppers going to non participating hospitals for some reason that wasn’t foreseen by the trial designers .
At the time the company felt it was still highly likely to be a helpful treatment Ho were the US Military was willing to fund another very expensive triak. So NEU pivotted to Rhett’s and then FXS!
