There are plenty of Western Australians who are supportive of a change in policy, the AMEC released some polling a month or so ago showing majority support to change it. (this is for uranium mining, not for nuclear energy in Australia. That is a more tricky issue).
I expect once the federal election is done and dusted we will see more activism in campaigning for WA uranium policy change. Just doesn't make any sense to make any noise now, it would just be drowned out by federal issues.
