Looks like a bloodbath heading our way on Monday. Question is will Trump dig his heals in or buckle.
America is definitely at a turning point IMO. If Trump buckles he can forget about ever returning manufacturing to America and the West and therefore ever making America great again. That's what's on the line as far as Trump and his faction see it. If they give in now they're giving in American hegemony to China. America cant compete (without tariffs) against the manufacturing juggernaut that is China, Russia and the Developing World. Which means means America and the West will continue to lose ground economically and militarily to China. And as Russia has shown in Ukraine, to win wars you must be able to manufacture more than the other guy. Thats whats on the line. Will Trump give up on maintaining American supremacy. Tariffs is the hill on which that issue is decided. Truth is I dont think Trump has it in him. Too many people will be hurt and turn against him if he continues raising tariffs, so Im betting he'll opt for an easy life and pretend it was all a bluff.
