Nice find and a good overview of the Indonesia nickel mining and refining market, mainly in regard to saprolite ore processing into ferronickel rather than laterite ore processing into battery nickel via HPAL. It is the latter process with which the TECH process is competing.

Not sure I fully understand the slide below but it sees the Indonesian government is imposing a mining quota on nickel ore of 200Mwmt in 2025. This would leave the RKEF (ferronickel) smelters substantially short of feed stock and likely to push the government to lift that quota.

My question is does this quota apply across both limonite and saprolite ores as the chart suggests? That would imply the limonite ore feeding HPAL smelters remains unaffected by the reduced quota.

The broader observation made by the analyst is that there is an increasing emphasis in Indonesian nickel production to do it 'green', such that output can be directed towards western battery supply chains rather than China. Just words? Time will tell but I remain confident TECH will eventually rise like a green phoenix! LOL
