Dave, Andrew Bolt and Pires Akerman are not actual journalists their are media commentators , they don't report news they interrupt news and give opinion.
Opinion is not news
Journalists report on facts and don't offer up their opinions.
Rightly or wrongly Riley reported the fact that Tony Abbott made a comment to some soldiers , he asked Abbott what was the context of this comment. He didn't offer up his interruptation of the comment , he just reported it had been made and ask for the man who made it to provide the interruptation.
Now Bolt , Akerman ,Alan Jones etc will all provide us with their opinions of the situation which from past history has a strong bias to the right.
Personally I am sick of people who provide opinion and write opinion peices being called journalist as they are nothing of the sort.
