Healthscope expects to have a clearer idea of bidders for the company next month when an agreement with its lenders to halt interest payments runs out. But a takeover, if it happened, would take months to conclude. People briefed on the discussions who asked for anonymity to speak freely said there had been interest from financial and strategic parties in the business.

Healthscope, which is being advised by Moelis, started sending information memorandums to interested parties this week. No clear bidders have emerged apart from David Di Pilla’s HMC Capital, although analysts said Ramsay Health Care could potentially make a play for the company.
