Imo it's splitting hairs to discriminate between journalists and media commentators. "Journalists" may be reporters, columnists, photographers and graphic artists. It is all very well to call these people "journos" but the reality is every one of them brings individual skills and standards to the profession
I remember the late Andrew Olle as someone who always seemed to maintain a high standard of credibility while the conduct of Andrew Bolt has been described as "at worst, dishonest and misleading and at best, grossly careless". (http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/cases/vic/VSCA/2003/161.html)
Attempting to homogenise such a disparate group of professionals is totally unfair
