Trees, a lot of ground-water is used in WA and this has resulted in the gwater table being deeper and deeper over time and more salinity in the soil.
Are you sure? I thought WA salinity was due to the Kauri Pines being harvested and without them sucking up water, the water-table rose bringing salt to the surface. I have no idea how lowering water-tables can cause salinity.
Perhaps you can help me out.
