Sorry bootleg, I accidentally scrolled past infoseeker's reply. I still disagree though :-)
Infoseeker,
Since we're adding CV points, I have 9 years of experience in electronic product development, some of which was for a leading avionics company in the UK. I have a good understanding of safety critical system design and failure mode/effects analysis.
I never argued with you regarding the burn rate and failure to deliver to date. Particularly the i-lert product, which AD Engineering helped prototype (I heard there was some kind of falling out between the two companies). I also completely agree that greenie's post looks like a ramp. However, 2004 was a long time ago and there is only one person still left from that era (certainly not Mark Pallister, who has had nothing to do with the company for years yet still appears to stain MBO's reputation in Perth). Things have changed a hell of a lot.
I am also not trying to defend the way Mobilarm has been run, the fact that none of the products have sold very well OR the appalling balance sheet. I ONLY disagreed, and still do, with your original wording. in particular your claim that "Electronics at a basic level has inherent problems with satisfactory performance...let alone a FAIL SAFE... LIFE SAVING DEVICE!". If the people designing a safety critical system know what they are doing, you should get a hell of a lot better than "satisfactory performance".
Finally, you keep referring to a single product. Since your interaction with the company, MBO has developed Crewsafe, which is an order of magnitude improvement over i-lert (which is a good example of product design but only supported something like 8 tags). MBO also now has a completely different category of product in the V100 (and the Submariner version of this). This product is a departure from traditional locater beacons because you can just buy the beacon and you don't need any special receiver (watch http://j.mp/eueCKg).
Again, I agree that rampant product development without sales to support it is pretty questionable. However, based on the last quarter's revenue increase (see ASX releases), the V100 product APPEARS be selling better than any product in the company's history. As always, only time will tell.
