I think it would cost more to remove and process the coper wires, than what you could sell it for, lets leave it in until it is worth while.

Meanwhile TLS should continue what they started, attract more mobile business and wireless data.

    Follow the money.

One thing that I have not seen mentioned, the fixed line connections are declining at retail level, but usually that very same lime line is rented to people like TPG or iinet.

That is what I have done couple years ago, switched to Naked DSL with iinet and got free phone and broadband for the same price I was paying for Telstra fixed line and dial up connection with TPG.
But Telstra stil gets more than third for making the copper connection availible to iinet.

SO I would argue that the reducing numbers of subscribers does not hurt Telstra as much as some people think. NBN will take years to complete and the copper has been paid for, in fact Telstra got it for free, so Telstra gets money for jam, renting it the to other operators, waiting for fiber to come in and expanding the smart phone wireless business. The money is IMO in every Tom, Dick and Harry having a smart phone as well as fast fiber at home.

Big companies are installing intranet style internal phones with connections to the wold at large.

The business plan of three amigos, selling premium priced services to large business failed. Going after man and women in the street will pay lot better IMO.
