Interesting article. I want one of the titanium printers! However for this sort of technology to be a threat to Quickstep there will need to be a quantum leap in the materials available to be printed. Quicksteps process is for producing fibre reinforced products. The continuous fibres are what gives the finished product its tensile strength, and I see no current technology for printing a fibre.
If nanotechnology advances result in the ability to print a carbon nanotube, then we have a problem.
