sadly, you are sneering and sanctimonious yourself, toward BruceyG, and toward all those who lived through the 50's.
At least in those days people (neighbours, associates, humanity in general) still cared about others. These days, people in the main don't care, as evidenced by a man on a high building, threatening to jump, and the onlookers urging him to do so.
didn't feel the need to rush out to so-called "rage" parties and drug themselves stupid on so-called "recreational" drugs, whilst the cops turn a blind eye, and the peddlers make a fortune out of kids' misery. Kids who then go out and drive home drugged to the eyeballs and kill someone else.
Nor did they want every "gadget" known to man, instantly! And have their heads buried in a variety of screens, unable to carry on an intelligent conversation. And show a complete lack of respect for the elderly.
Funny how so many of each generation feel themselves superior in every way to those who went before them.
When the graph in behaviours, manners, and general love for one's fellow humans seems to be going downhill fast.
