When purchasing, bassy's tip is,

Go with a company that users there own installers for obvious reasons,

Once you pay a deposit, price is locked in, no more to pay,read the fine print, a lot of smaller companies will ring you before install and request more money because RECS has changed,

Check out panel cell efficiency,

Make sure it's a solid state inverter and not a transformer style inverter, ie sharp/aero sharpe, etc

Only purchase mono crystalline and not poly crystalline or thin film/armorous panels, very old technology the last 2

Preferably use a company that has been operating prior to the RECS coming into play

Google solar and go to a link where you get at least 3 quotes, try and speak to people who who have had a system installed around your area by the company you are considering

Caveat Emptor, you go to them punters, no cooling off period, FACT

Company you are considering,google there company name with the word complaints after it, you can run but can't hide on the net.

Confirm if switchboard needs upgrading, extra cost, confirm new smart meter is free and cost of installing if electricity provider does not do it at $0 cost

Confirm extra costs for cabling, two story, tiles, clorbond, etc, if any at all, confirm if GST is included

Finally, shop around for Feed In Tarriff as some companies pay more than others, but not much good if they are the highest and there normal electricity rates are a lot higher.

The less electricity you use during the day, the more goes back into the grid, means more $$$,then draw back what you need for less than half the price in most states.
