I don't know about you, but I found the timeframe between trial initiation and first patient dosed to be extremely bullish.

There are 223 phase 1 trials recruiting advanced solid cancer patients where 5% of late stage cancer patients are eligible to enter any clinical trial. It's estimated that screening and recruitment takes roughly 4 weeks. The RC220 trial opened on 3rd April with first patient evaluated as safely dosed 1st May (exactly four weeks).

What this tells me is that despite there being literally hundreds of other phase 1 trials and a small percentage of patients eligible to enter a clinical trial, a patient is enrolled on day one and treated with Bisantrene inside 4 weeks for the first dose level of a phase 1a trial. This patient had to meet the eligibility criteria which had to be known prior to enrolment, which means the clinician knows the eligibility criteria of our trial intimately.

We have been told that dose escalation trials are expected to start slowly and build momentum. If enrolling a patient on day 1 and dosing within 4 weeks is slow, I am ready for what is to come. Based on my understanding of the clinical trial protocol, absolute minimum timeframe to clear the first cohort (if 2 additional patients were recruited swiftly after the first and no DLTs) is the week of the 16th of June. If we can get the first cohort cleared before July, I'll be extremely impressed.
