There is no such thing as a fully paid up Australian that I know of. Please explain to me if there is?
Our government has been known to fly Australians overseas for funerals and also to bring deceased Australians home for funerals.

In the specific case of Australians needing to attend a funeral on the other side of the country I am not aware of any direct fare assistance BUT with the multitude of benefits available to our citizens they should be in a position to get there themselves.

Refugees on Xmas Island would not be in a position to get themselves to Sydney for a funeral as they receive very few government benefits compared to Australian citizens.

Therefore our government on humanitarian grounds transported them and if you have a problem with that then IMO you really have a problem.
