Just take a look at what happened to NWE. That was played off with another suitor, but what happens is that the companies that are making the bids have their SP inflated very high to make extremely attractive and the offer may sound good especially if you are looking at a share transfer and once the deal is done the SP of the shares you have received drop back to normal levels the value of your shares in that company are worth far less to your investment of the company that was bought out.
