If a stock like LYC fits your profile do the research, buy and hold. It's an exciting stock and it's always going to be volatile until it shows some earnings but if the fundamentals are solid the rewards can be spectacular.
Not sure if I'd turn my PC off but, if you've bought all the stock you want, the advice to tuck it away for 6 months or so is very sound.
For me charting is not really about ST trading but trying to identify LT entry and exit points. I couldn't care less about what MS and others do with the stock day to day but try and use the charts to determine changes in sentiment/momentum.
We're never going to beat the big guys but you can ride on their coat tails.
