    A little history:-

    Beta was widely acknowledged as being the superior product to VHS but Beta failed. It failed as VHS was already in too many homes and was too entrenched for Beta to get a significant market share.

    For the time being, at least, it seems people are too used to 'googling' as its too entrenched.

    Just something to ponder. Maybe 'free' everything by IPR is not so bad ..... in a desperate situation.
