Manganese for EV batteries won't have as much demand or volume compared with the use in steel for rebar, railway lines, ship building etc. ie ferro-manganese and silicon manganese. Demand for EVs will be marginal if best and if demand expands then its relatively easy to add a few more tonnes to fulfill the battery market. If the demand and price goes up then supply will easily be produced.
Its worth looking at silicon metal which is used for solar panels, many thought that the demand would increase and that a lot of silicon metal would be used.
Currently high cost Si metal businesses are going broke as the supply outstrips the demand.
I wonder how much JMS management have wasted on Mn battery material development.
There are other opportunities in the market that JMS management have been blind to see.
Exxaro would be smart to takeover JMS just to get rid of useless management and save $$millions.
