    Hi Tau
    Hope you are well
I know that many people get great happiness from their cats BUT!

The thing about cats is that they are the pets of an individual person and they must be controlled to that persons property, and not allow the problem to be borne by others

You can never justify one problem with another, they are all separate and each must be attacked one at a time, like eating an elephant

Story one *** I worked with a lady who doted on her pet cat and we had similar talks

But then one day she told me her pet had died from old age, so although I was sorry for her loss I did not lose any sleep for her cat

Then about two weeks later she came to me with a confession -- she was also a keen gardener and had a covered shade area with lots of bushes and small trees and she told me that for the first time since she has lived there is was getting full of birds

Birds who knew that it was not a safe place previously

Story 2 **** Moved into a place ( 6 acres ) where there was a small deserted orchard at the back of the house and after a while I realized there were no birds
Then I spied two cats, lived opposite me but preferred my little orchard, I observed they were there every day
So I got my 22 rifle with birdshot loaded and let lose out the kitchen window with a couple of shots in the air and the cats left, did the same the next day and about a week later the orchard was full of birds having a lovely time, cats never came back

So moral is, enjoy your cats but don't let them out of the house unless on a lead
