The Frequency Distribution chart for Drill Holes at Rosewood (above) shows that most Drill Holes have a TVD of less than 35 meters. There is an interesting video of deep mineral sands mining proposed for Balranald, NSW. The operating depth is 70m, though this might not be important.

Yes, free-dig mining is very attractive, but the possibility of mining deeper sands/clay/mud is there.
