Australians are too compliant. We saw that during COVID. Instead of siding with the "right wing extremists", AKA the families concerned about their freedoms, they actually attacked them and even dobbed in their neighbours for not wearing masks. They turned on their fellow humans in the most disgusting way because the vast majority think the government is always right. Generations of propaganda in the media space and through education does that. This is not France, where huge portions of the population hit the streets if they tried to lift the retirement age by the year, farmers poured manure on government and council chambers etc. Australians would never be capable of going to extremes to prevent substantial change. Anyway, it is a nanny state and the police would get additional powers, likely with live bullets if they were really desperate, army called in etc. All the recent immigration acceleration also has to do with this too. Ensure most of the population is reliant on government handouts and more compliant and less likely to rebel. We are screwed and we will be forced to accept whatever the government does in the years ahead. Also, taking away our weapons post Port Arthur probably also contributes to the compliance. The governments know the population has nothing to fight them against. In the USA, it is their right (set in the constitution to be armed), and the government is therefore less likely to piss off the population with drastic change.
