All the Lib/Nats have (had) to do was/is come up with some sensible policies that benefit all Australian citizens and the country. They have to keep in front of mind that it's not about them/politicians and their self-serving brain-farts - it's about US. It's about identifying priorities, like the housing deficit, education, hospital services and necessary infrastructure (all of which are slapping them in the face for attention) - and Not their distant, dubious dreams of nuclear power, redundant nuclear submarines and new football stadiums (Roman colosseums) to entertain the populous as a diversionary tactic. IT'S JUST NOT THAT HARD.
The same sentiment goes for the Labs. They haven't done a half bad job so far, given the inherited headwinds of their predecessors and the growing geopolitical upheavals, but they too need to focus on the most important issue, which is US - and not some brain-fart idea based on the peccadillos of errant politicians. LOOK HOW THAT'S GOING DOWN IN AMERICA.
