''The Liberals became such a broad church that they believed in nothing. ''
well, no - for many decades in the slower era, they had their vanilla conservative principles. They have had to give them up, running incongruent policies under those principles for the last many years - because the basic principles cannot possibly work in a rapidly changing era.
''Currently they are planning a series of focus groups to discover what they believe in. Rather than being a party based on values they are a party looking for values.''
FINALLY - you have an opinion that is absolutely spot on
that's exactly what they are doing ------------- they are a group of people that want to play politics - but, they don't know what to believe in -
so, they are fishing around for something to say they believe in - that will 'suit' this era
ie. 'what will people like us for?' ------------
absolutely the wrong way to go about things -- because basically - they are literally saying - 'we'd like to be in power - what do we need to get us there?'
AND WHY WOULD THEY DO THIS, THIS WAY? ---
same old crap --------- they think they are born to rule, egotistical people, who are sure that they're better than others ------------ just need to figure out what to believe in - that will convince others ----------
wow - smells very very very much like how religions begin
