The converse is equally true you know? Those who talk up a stock to heighten confidence so as to push up the SP in the shares they hold. I see both types in these forums but I think I've seen a marked increase the up-rampers. Its all part of the Big End of Town feeling less restrained about manipulating the market herd, and now with all that technology at their fingertips, they're way more numerous and effective IMO.
