The Big Canberra Battery, a 250-megawatt (MW), 500-megawatt-hour (MWh) battery energy storage system, is estimated to cost between $300 and $400 million. The ACT Government says construction of the battery, located at Williamsdale, is expected to be completed in 2025. It's designed to store enough renewable energy to power one-third of Canberra for two hours during peak demand. ...Or all of Canberra for 40 Minutes...


But all that money got to come from somewhere ...

In the first few months of 2025, 14 ACT library closures were reported. Additionally, there have been 90 library closures in the past 6 months, meaning, on average, an ACT public library was closed every second day.

Specifically, Burrangiri, a 15-bed respite facility, is slated to close in June 2025, with the ACT government citing a lack of funding and the need for major renovations. The ACT government is working with the provider and federal government to ensure continuity of care for residents. Additionally, Corowa Hospital Nursing Home was decommissioned in January 2025.
