As a spodume producer LTR shareholders should be more concerned about the fact CATL are now mass producing Sodium batteries competitive in everything but weight, which eliminate Lithium, Cobalt and Zinc, this would have to make them one of cleanest and safest battery technologies. With the speed of technological change in this sector dont underestimate Sodium batteries, especially in the city car, robotaxi and BESS space where weight is not a major obstacle but price is. Like rust inovation never sleeps.
I think at times on these forums people get so distracted by theories around manipulation etc, perceived or otherwise, they overlook whats actually going on around them. Two or three years ago LFP was not talked about a lot , now its the prefered choice as a cheaper , cleaner option ( ironically CATL was amongst the leaders). Were going to hear a lot more about Sodium batteries going forward just like LFP and they will take a bigger market share of the battery space over time.
CATL will do what's required to dominate the space and one should expect nothing less from any Company in any Country with those ambitions. In the longer run supply and demand dominate price not manipulation.
Who knows how and to what extent this effects Spodumene producers going forward but it will have some effect and foolish to be ignored. Being a low cost miner in any sector is an advatange.
What we think will happen and what does happen are usually different.
