I believe you might be overestimating the impact and size of the environmentalist activist movement. In particular relative to reality of lobbying and political donations which affect discourse in the opposite way. After all I keep reminding the people in this thread the ALP takes plenty of money directly from Woodside!
The overwhelming outcome for the federal election was a rejection of the LNP their policies, not a vote for environmentalism. The voting public clearly is in favour of these project(s) and understand the ALP is just as pro energy and oil and gas as the LNP is - it is just a different way they approach things. If there was a large majority of voters who voted on climate or environmentalism as their core issue you'd see a larger increase to the greens voting base, which did not occur.
