Errrr.... No.

Just go back on HC when they were beginning to drill surprise, there were many, many posters here predicting drilling blunders by this crew.

The had up to that point managed to bungle pretty much each and every well drilled. Some bungles were worse than others. The bungle at JW1 (immediately prior to Surprise) was monumental and resulted in egg being pasted all over the face of JH when his "oil flow likely" statement had zero chance of being proven correct due to a drilling team bungle.

Keeping them on for the Surprise drill was sheer madness - it was 100% foreseeable that they would stuff it up.

No hindsight required my friend, just a small dose of common sense and some average management skills would have resulted in a different outcome.
