was in the London underground trying to work out how to get to a particular station. Found an information booth occupied by a very large black woman. Me, " excuse me, how do I get to Tower Hill station"?
She, " ???????" unintelligible response.
Me, "sorry, I didn't get that".
Lots of hand waving from her and a refusal to speak further or even make eye contact with me.
When recounting this to a relation later that day I was informed that this is a common daily occurrence and nothing can be done about it lest you were to appear to be a racist. Amazing !! Skin colour has become the determining factor on whether you may be criticised for not doing, or being unable to perform, your job.
