As a retired operating systems, storage and applications performance guy who last century worked in the largest data centre in the southern hemisphere, amongst many other places … I personally find it funny and a little bit sad that most of the AI generated benefits and valuations that are being posted here focus almost entirely on the cost savings from power usage. Yes it’s important and yes it helps justify the large valuations for what (hopefully) 4DS memory could provide if they can pull this rabbit out of the hat …. but to me, who wanted a non volatile storage class memory sort of product back in the 90s …. I say the power and cost savings are for the bean counters, I just want the system/aplication to run faster and more efficiently. I say that’s worth more than power usage savings, but I’m a biased old dinosaur.
