    Yes, it seems like recently a large deposit of graphite was allegedly discovered by chance in the south of France:

    However, based on the experience of and with Talga, it will probably be many years before this could 1. become a graphite mine and 2. actually form the basis for anode material.

    Northern Graphite, on the other hand, is already quite a bit further along and plans to start production by 2028, using graphite imported from a disused mine in Namibia - it's also considered as a strategic project by the EU:
