This may be a bit of a silly question but say you invest 2k in HOG you double so you have 4k in less than 6 months, if you sell 2k do you get taxed capital gains tax @ the 30% or is it not seen as any profit as that was your initial investment and you havent made any money until you sell those remaining shares? I do understand that if you hold a stock longer than 1 year your capital gains tax is halved to 15%. Sorry but I am quite young and have only been trading since the GFC, so go easy.
