Trump is rightly demanding that the pressure be taken off the USA for their defence and the US defensive spending which has burdened the America budget for decades. The Europeans are now, belatedly, waking up from their "fools paradise" slumber, previously thanks to the USA, and demonstrably acting to significantly increase their various military capabilities.

Imo, Albanese has promised so much excessive expenditure that he is at serious risk of downgrading our credit rating and placing Australia in a position of inability to invest appropriately in our defense.

Trump and Hegseth are correct in their pressure for all western countries to increase their military expenditure. This should result in a symbiotic benefit for all countries so affected. Independent self protection, and a greater ability for America to increase its defence spending for mutual deterrence.
