I am going to be brutally honest, IEL deserves this bashing.
IEL (and many others) have lobbied for and benefited from visa loopholes that provide a way for people to enter Australia, and work illegally whilst "studying English" (or whatever else) and then easy further loopholes to stay - forever.
Part of this is policy, shaping up against less than friendly nations, but overwhelmingly this is Australia sick to death of "students" coming here, buying a house and Doordashing / Ubering and then staying - when they were only supposed to be here for the term of their study.
These loopholes were supposed to retain the BEST students that come here in highly skilled fields of study, not everyone with a motorbike and a helmet and a desire to rush dirty bird at 300% markup, definitely not someone here just to study language.
all this said, there's money to be made. I expect a big bounce either tomorrow or later in the week at the least.
