yeh, i raised an eyebrow with alan kohler's comments last night too. if this is a correction for gold and silver prices then pls bring on a crash! lol!
seriously though, I think you have to give him the benefit of the doubt and that, rather than being an apparent moron, he was only guilty of expressing his comment poorly. clearly, au and ag prices are not currently correcting so presumably he meant that some are predicting a correction in the short term (though he should have said it was a forecast rather than a current fact and also WHO that is should also have been stated).
at best this was a poorly presented piece of journalism. sadly, I tend to agree that often abc tv and radio finance reporting leaves a lot be desired.
i tend to agree with previous posts that current middle east dramas are likely to minimise any short term downward pressures for au/ag prices.
