Miles - If his passport looked 'sus' what would you have our Immigration people do? - give him an elephant stamp on his hand and wave him on his way? I imagine that very, very few passports look 'sus'. These people have access to databases that show and tell them what to look for. Both legal and fraudulent passport information is available for other countries. There must have been something about it that raised the alarm bells. And please note that most people coming to Australia for English courses are Asian and in their late teens, early 20's, and are absolutely delightful and it's a pleasure to have them here. There are very few English students from Europe for what I would've thought were obvious reasons. As I said previously Immigration made a mistake - big deal - it's hardly worth getting worked up about.
