Why would vertically integrated companies need subsidies? They make profit downstream. It's the standalone upstream mines that need subsidies. What you and kikker are calling for is subsidies for the profitable which wont happen. Kikker, spod is already leaving Africa and volumes will increase in time, nobody is going to "forget" some of the largest deposits on the planet just because of transport/power. Money fixes most things.
