Well worth considering what Yanis Varufakis , former Finance Minister to Greece, has to say on this topic.
He's got a wide ranging but penetrating mind and he's unafraid of calling this out.
I'd be careful of oversimplifications and he has a more nuanced view but he's very on the ball about the US China thing.
He seems to think the US will pull back on the tariffs and Bessent is busily trying to get more money into the US which is why they have the huge tax breaks for earning over $30mil.
Then they will revalue the USD by about 30% lower reducing the debt because right now the debt is unworkable.
What's going wrong though is the nations like Japan, Germany China aren't biting on LT treasuries. It's not going to plan.
Regardless they are going to hit the middle and lower classes massively and that's where gold comes in.
This is really shaky stuff. Nixon did something similar with the debt burden from the Vietnam war, in 1971.
It worked out for the US then.
The main thing to remember is everyone wants a resolution because it's the US demand that keeps the factories in China and Japan going.

If they don't manage this at least we have gold to fall back on. Gold miners are still undervalued.
